Job Description

North Wind Portage (NWP), a CIRI Company, is seeking a Quality Control Technician in Luckey, OH. The project site is located approximately 15 miles from Toledo, OH.

The Quality Control (QC) Technician’s duties for the Luckey Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Remediation Project include, but are not limited to:

  • Verify that all required construction QC sampling, testing, and documentation are performed correctly.
  • Assist in the development, training, and verify use of Quality Assurance (QA)/QC procedures and instructions.
  • Ensure that the construction project plans are properly executed and evaluate the effectiveness of controls delineated in the Luckey work plans and procedures.
  • Participate in conducting daily quality checks and obtaining data for Daily Quality Control Report.
  • Perform / Support quality audits and inspections.
  • Ensure that project record keeping is accurate, thorough and complete.
  • Assist in recording, maintaining, and submitting various information into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Provide other support, as necessary, to the Contract Quality Control System Manager.


  • USACE - CQM training (current certification).
  • Experience on a USACE site preferred, including an understanding and experience with RMS.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and provide QC oversight for multiple contractors and site personnel.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • > 2 Years’ experience working on radiological and/or hazardous waste sites.
  • > 3 Years’ experience performing QA/QC activities and functions.
  • Ability to obtain Radiation Worker II qualifications, complete Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) worker qualification, and pass a HAZWOPER/respirator user medical exam. 
  • Ability to work in different types of personal protective equipment (half-face, full-face respirators, Tyvek, etc.) while performing various tasks/activities (e.g., climbing, walking, stopping, etc.) in different work environments (e.g., cold, heat, etc.).
  • Experience in work environments with exposure to all weather conditions and temperature extremes.
  • Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions.
  • Ability to read and comply with project direction contained in specifications, project-specific plans and procedures, and/or execute tasks after receiving verbal direction.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • May be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must undergo pre-employment beryllium blood testing (BeLPT). Testing to be scheduled by NWP.  Only people who are found to not be sensitized to beryllium will be allowed to work on the Luckey site.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
