Job Description
Support the sampling of various media, field data collection activities including groundwater quality, GPS surveys, and support environmental drilling operations. Support project management, prepare planning documents and reports, direct field teams conducting site assessments, and interact with regulatory agencies to develop successful solutions to project challenges. Apply regulatory scientific principles to assist clients in the following areas: site investigation, soil and groundwater remediation, wastewater conveyance and treatment, land management, waste management, and other environmental areas. 
  • Perform field work to collect soil, water, air, or other samples.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, engineers, and other specialists, to address environmental problems. 
  • Communicate scientific and technical information to clients, or internal audiences through oral briefings, written documents, and formal meetings.
  • Inspect facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. 
  • Participate in the preparation of work plans for a wide variety of customers.
  • Prepare, review, and update technical and recommendation reports. 
  • Provide technical-level support for environmental remediation and investigation projects. 
  • Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs. 
  • Under the guidance of the Project Manager, evaluate analytical laboratory data and draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to determine project schedules.
  • Direct field activities under the guidance of the Field Manager.
Qualifications
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products. 

  • Ability to perform field assignments as part of a team or independently.

  • Ability to utilize multiple word-processing and database applications including MS Office applications Word, Excel, Access, as well as Adobe Acrobat, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities. 

  • Strong communication, prioritization and organizational skills. 

  • Excellent proof-reading and writing skills

  • General knowledge of IH instrumentation use and interpretation of results.  

  • Understanding of IH and Safety issues as defined by the scope of work and associated Occupational Safety and Health performance requirements.  

  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and follow procedures and task requirements.  

  • Demonstrate the ability to appropriately document survey and data collection results.

  • Demonstrate the ability to use different levels of PPE (including respiratory protection). 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from client, managers, and staff.

  • Possess the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and make decisions, solve problems, exercise good judgment, work under pressure, work with minimal supervision and prioritize workload

  • Ability to participate in physically demanding work while wearing personal protective equipment including respiratory protection.  Medically qualified to wear a respirator, able to lift 30 pounds, and able to climb ladders. 

    This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. He/she must be able to navigate the job-site and must comply with all Company safety requirements in the office and on the job-site. Heavy equipment may be used and he/she needs to be able to lift weighty objects. 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Required to pass a Public Trust background check.

  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
