Job Responsibilities

General Function

The Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of all field activities related to the physical construction. The superintendent must control all aspects of the project site to achieve the final product, quality, and schedule. The superintendent is the direct point of contact for safety and enforcement of all safety regulations and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generates, secures, or otherwise confirms all information needed to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on a continuing basis
  • Gives input regarding project estimates for future work
  • Develops the progress schedule with the Project Manager or Operations Manager
  • Participates in scope reviews of the various bid packages to properly coordinate their respective interfaces and ensure nothing has been missed
  • Works with the Project Manager to develop and administer the site utilization program, site services, security arrangements, and other facilities and arrangements necessary for appropriate service to the construction effort
  • Identifies field-construction and work-sequence considerations when finalizing bid package purchases
  • Monitors actual versus required performance by all parties
  • Complete oversight of all subcontractors ensuring workforce size, hours worked, etc. is sufficient to support contract requirements
  • Establishes a punch list and close-out procedures list
  • Ensures all subcontracts, material purchases, submittals, deliveries, clarifications, and changes are processed on time and comply with contract requirements
  • Prepares daily reports, job diaries, narratives, and all other documentation as determined by the company and by the project needs
  • Enforces all regulatory, base and company specific safety rules
  • Performs job site inspections for both quality and safety

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Gathers all information necessary to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on a continuing bases
  • Identifies field-construction and work-sequence considerations when finalizing bid package purchases
  • Enforces all regulatory, base and company specific safety rules
  • Significant experience with earned value reporting and baseline management
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow procedures and schedules, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Projects)
  • Ability to work in a team environment and fit in with company culture and processes
  • Effective professional oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and values that are above-reproach
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

Experience: Possess at least five (5) years of experience employed as a Superintendent with a general contractor on Federal projects in the size range of $5M -$9M.  Minimum 5 years of experience as a Site Safety & Health Officer.  A combination of experience and education that demonstrates the required skills, knowledge, and abilities will be considered.  Experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Projects preferred. 

Training: Must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of continuous safety training over the past five (5) years.  OSHA 10 and 30 Hour and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Quality Control Manager (QCM) training preferred.

Background requirements: Applicants must be able to obtain Base access.  Applicants are required to have REAL ID Act compliant documentation at time of hire.
