Silver Mountain Construction is currently looking for a Superintendent at Eglin AFB.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Title:                 Superintendent

Department:    Project Management

Reports To:      Project Manager, Program Manager, Operations Manager, or President

FLSA Status:    Exempt

General Function

The Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of all field activities related to the physical construction. The superintendent must control all aspects of the project site to achieve the final product, quality, and schedule. The superintendent is the direct point of contact for safety and enforcement of all safety regulations and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Generates, secures, or otherwise confirms all information needed to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on a continuing basis

·         Gives input regarding project estimates for future work

·         Develops the progress schedule with the Project Manager or Operations Manager

·         Participates in scope reviews of the various bid packages to properly coordinate their respective interfaces and ensure nothing has been missed 

·         Works with the Project Manager to develop and administer the site utilization program, site services, security arrangements, and other facilities and arrangements necessary for appropriate service to the construction effort

·         Identifies field-construction and work-sequence considerations when finalizing bid package purchases

·         Monitors actual versus required performance by all parties

·         Complete oversight of all subcontractors ensuring workforce size, hours worked, etc. is sufficient to support contract requirements

·         Establishes a punch list and close-out procedures list

·         Ensures all subcontracts, material purchases, submittals, deliveries, clarifications, and changes are processed on time and comply with contract requirements

·         Prepares daily reports, job diaries, narratives, and all other documentation as determined by the company and by the project needs

·         Enforces all regulatory, base and company specific safety rules

·         Performs job site inspections for both quality and safety


 


Qualifications

Qualifications

Education: Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

Experience: Possess at least ten (10) years’ experience employed with a general contractor, with at least six (6) years of service dedicated to the execution of construction projects.  A combination of experience and education that demonstrates the required skills, knowledge, and abilities will be considered.  Experience on Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or other federal projects preferred.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

·         OSHA 30 hour Construction Safety Course

·         U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM) preferred, but not required

·         Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) preferred, but not required

·         Gathers all information necessary to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on a continuing bases

·         Identifies field-construction and work-sequence considerations when finalizing bid package purchases

·         Enforces all regulatory, base and company specific safety rules

·         Significant experience with earned value reporting and baseline management

·         Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow procedures and schedules, and prioritize multiple tasks

·         Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Projects)

·         Ability to work in a team environment and fit in with company culture and processes

·         Effective professional oral and written communication skills

·         Must possess a strong work ethic and values that are above-reproach

·         Strong organizational, interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

·         Medium physical workload.

·         Employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

·         Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.  Also required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.

·         Specific physical requirements include, but are not limited to, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions.  Maintain equilibrium to prevent falling when moving, walking, standing, kneeling or crouching – particularly on narrow, uneven, irregular, slippery surfaces, going up or down ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps poles or other objects using hands, arms, feet or legs.

·         The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, noise sufficient to cause the worker to shout.  The worker is subject to a variety of physical conditions, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

·         The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions – fumes, odors, dusts, mist, gases or poor ventilation
