Job Responsibilities

?MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - CARPENTER

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Complies with set safety standards while performing essential job functions. Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.  Completes maintenance and repair records as required. Reviews assigned work orders.  Estimates time and materials needed to complete repairs.   Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems. Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Perform deck installation and repairs, including ramps and stairs.
  • Perform roofing installation and repairs, including metal and shingles.
  • Perform roofing repairs including leak detection repairs of rubberized roofing.
  • Perform trailer leak detection and repairs.
  • Perform HVAC installation, diagnostics and repair.
  • Perform machine set up and adjustments, including belt and coupling alignment.
  • Perform new installations and facility modifications including pipe fitting, carpentry, welding and millwright activities.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on structures, systems and components; following procedures, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot production issues to eliminate downtime.
  • Maintain records of maintenance on all plant equipment.
  • Adhere to plant safety polices and contribute to a safe workplace.
  • Respond to requests for equipment repairs.
  • Actively and positively participates in problem solving sessions, work planning meetings, pre- and post- job briefs, and other similar activities.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), anti-contamination clothing, respiratory equipment, etc. as required by work order, radiation work permit, or activity hazard analysis.
  • Implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput.
  • Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and schedule constraints.
  • Meet physical qualifications of a radiation worker, and have ability to qualify as a Radiation Worker II

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May be assigned responsibility of task lead.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

Other Skills/Abilities:  Must be able to obtain and maintain the required DOE credential.

Education: H.S. diploma or equivalent; strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the company is required. Journeyman Carpenter.

 

Experience: Five years related experience; minimum three years of experience in industrial maintenance; minimum three years of construction and fabrication.

 

 Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Internet navigation.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to wear personal protective and safety equipment. This equipment includes but is not limited to safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, ladders, and stand for extended periods of time. Reading vision, Ability to speak, Sitting, Standing, Walking, Climbing Ladders, Bending, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling, Balancing, Reaching overhead, Reaching horizontally, Gripping with the hands, Use of both hands, Lifting 50 pounds.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
