Job Responsibilities
Provide S&H oversight at a hazardous waste mine cleanup site where in SW Oregon. The safety officer will be responsible to ensure safety site compliance with the Accident Prevention Plan/Site Safety and Health Plan (APP/SSHP), and Federal, State, and OSHA regulations. Duties will include conducting daily S&H inspections, identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions, addressing and tracking S&H deficiencies, issuing STOP WORK actions when unacceptable S&H conditions exist, conducting mishap investigations, maintaining the project 300 OSHA logs, participate in project meetings, weekly reporting to the project H&S Manager (and as necessary), address modifications to the APP/SSHP and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), ensure subcontractor compliance with S&H, and maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their Safety Data Sheets.

Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years experience implementing H&S at programs at hazardous waste sites, with at least 5 years experience on mine projects.

Experience in construction techniques and construction safety procedures.

Experience implementing and performing exposure assessments and air monitoring programs.

Familiarity with managing PPE programs, including PPE hazard evaluations for types of activities and hazards anticipated to be encountered.
40-Hour HAZWOPER trained
30-Hour OSHA Construction Trained (or equivalent)

?Familiarity with USACE, OSHA, and MSHA regulations
Familiarity managing H&S programs, developing and implementing Activity Hazard Anaylsis, First Aid/CPR certified.
Familiarity with training in personal and respiratory protective equipment, confined space entry and in the proper use of air monitoring sampling methods.
Able to be an OSHA competent person for excavation/trenching, respiratory protection, fall protection, cranes and rigging, and possibly other high risk activities at work site.

Preferred CSP, CIH, CHST or ASP certifications
Preferred college degree related to S&H
Willing and capable to work extended hours
