Job Description

North Wind is seeking a Senior Manager to oversee operations in our Phoenix office and grow our Environmental, Construction, and Engineering business lines within the area.  The Phoenix Operations Manager will also provide oversight for program and project managers located in Phoenix. The ideal candidate will possess a wide degree of creativity and leadership experience with the capability to manage operations across multiple business line related to environmental management, construction, and engineering.  The successful candidate will also work with North Wind leadership to promote business development and growth within the geographic region and will have experience and capabilities in the following:

  • Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and building teams by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  •  Monitoring and controlling resources through effective oversight and tracking of spending for operational and project level budgets.
  • Developing and growing business within the market sectors of environmental, construction, and or engineering.
  • Monitoring/assessing performance of yourself and others to make improvements or take corrective action.


Responsibilities:

  •          Manage day-to-day operations to ensure quality services to a broad customer base.
  •       Ensure that corporate policies and programs related to procurement, contracts, and human resources are implemented on a daily basis.
  •        Supervise and support multi-disciplinary project managers.
  • Provide leadership and meet with subordinate managers to ensure operational efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
  • Work collaboratively with program and project managers to develop schedules, work plans, and staffing plans for projects.
  • Oversee execution of projects from estimation to completion, including identification, management, and mitigation of risk.
  • Ensure technical competence, training, and professional certifications of staff are kept up to date.
  • Work with project managers to prioritize staff workloads in order to meet project objectives.
  • Foster and enforce a culture of safety ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Communicate and promote safety, compliance, and environmental requirements in alignment with company policy and procedures.
  • Provide vision and leadership by identifying new clients, business lines, and opportunities. 
  • Ensure local operations achieve business objectives by providing direction and oversight to program and project managers.
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the company.
  • Communicate effectively with work group, other units of the organization and senior management.
  • Attain utilization goals set by senior management for employees.
  • Motivate employees and build effective inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Work with managers and project teams to ensure adherence to project budgets and optimize processes to achieve greater operational effectiveness.
  • Track revenue and profit goals for projects managed from the Phoenix office.
  • Assess business opportunities with focus on Environmental Services (compliance, planning, natural resources, cultural resources, and remediation), Construction Services, and Engineering.
  • Prepare and lead proposals for business opportunities and provide support for corporate proposals, as directed.
  • Establish and review performance metrics and ensure status is accurately reported up to corporate functional managers.
  • Build positive and productive working relationships with customer base to ensure customer needs are met or exceeded.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by addressing issues, questions or concerns in a timely manner.

  •          PC-based computing experience (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) essential.
  •          Superior organizational and interpersonal communication abilities


Education:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, environmental, or related field with 10 or more year's of relevant leadership experience with 5 or more years leading and managing teams as a senior leader.
