Job Responsibilities

North Wind Group is seeking a Junior Project Control Specialist for a potential job opening. The general scope of this position is to:

1) Assist Senior Project Control Specialists and Project Managers (PMs) and the project team in effectively and proactively managing projects to ensure project success.

2) Assist in the development, maintenance, and execution complex project performance baselines. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Building a cost and schedule performance baseline which includes well defined; scope, assumptions, deliverables, Work Breakdown Structure, and integrated critical path schedule that is resource loaded.

 • Establishing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance standards and controls based on the defined project planning strategy.

• Interfacing with standard company business systems (Primavera P6 scheduling, Deltek Costpoint cost accounting system, NWG Dashboard, etc.).

• Supporting PMs in managing procurement actions (accruals, invoicing, and costing).

• Formulating effective communications and reporting requirements (as defined by the PM, Corporate policy, and customer requirements) that define the current status of a project in relation to the project performance baseline, reasons for deviation, and assisting with implementing corrective action plans.

• Developing accurate Estimate At Completion for detailed project completion costs and performing monthly project fee analyses.

• Seeking continuous improvement and enhancements of current project management methodologies.

• Assisting the proposal development team

• Working as an integral part of a team to review business opportunities, conduct risk evaluations and bid/no-bid decisions.

• Coordinate and lead the preparation of complete estimates for assigned projects.

• Review and incorporate historical data.

• Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to help back up estimate figures for the cost estimating team.

• Help determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints. • Estimate and/or price extra work items, change orders, credit, etc.

• Work closely with other departments to ensure proper resources included in estimates.

• Be involved in project planning sessions and team meetings to provide estimating input.
Qualifications

·         4 Year educational degree (preferred)

·         2 years of demonstrated Project Controls/Cost Estimating experience. Must possess superior oral and written communication.

·         Familiar with Project Controls EVMS processes and project management software's such as Primavera P6 and Deltek Costpoint.

·         Experienced in all facets of Cost Estimating, including developing detailed cost estimates and BOEs using Code of Accounts to develop a cost history database that is company specific and performing cost modeling for large projects.
