Job Description
  • Provide daily clerical support to Fort Huachuca's Hazardous Waste Program.
  • Categorize hazardous waste for proper containment and labeling.
  • Prepare turn-in documents, pick-up orders, and manifests. 
  • Enter hazardous waste quantity data into databases. 
  • Maintain files. 
  • Assist with preparing, packaging, and shipping samples for laboratory analyses. 
  • Track waste information and generator identification. 
  • Provide customer service at 90-day accumulation point. 
  • Acquire and interpret SDSs for waste products to ensure proper management and disposal. 
  • Assist with preparation of Annual Hazardous Waste Report. 
  • Assist with intake and sorting of solid hazardous waste that is turned in to the 90-day accumulation point. 
  • Assist with coordination and registration of installation-wide required environmental training.
Minimum of Associate's Degree. 
Must have experience manipulating databases and spreadsheets.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to pass a background check for access to government facilities and equipment. 

Desirable Skills:
Experience with Safety Data Sheets and manifests. 
At least one year experience in hazardous waste processing: generating waste profiles, handling, storage, characterization, sampling, etc. 
Previous work with hazardous waste work in Arizona. 
Basic knowledge of chemistry. 
RCRA certification (40 CFR 264.16, 40 CFR 265.16) 
DOT Hazardous Materials Shipper certification (49 CFR 173) 
Hazardous Waste Worker certification (29 CFR 1910.120)
