Job Description
North Wind Construction Services, LLC is currently looking for a Site Superintendent, for work in and around Morgantown, West Virginia. Under the direction of the Project Manager, the successful candidate will provide project oversight / field supervision to a large scale soil excavation, removal, transportation and placement of soils on the project site. The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic; solid organizational skills; and an understanding of engineering, excavation and soil work, and construction. Prior construction experience—especially excavation and earthwork—is essential.

Greater than 50% Travel Requried.
• Supervise and document construction work through daily reporting, photographs, and written and verbal communication with North Wind project and corporate management.
• Provide supervision and oversight of direct-hire and subcontracted personnel performing excavation, transportation, soil placement, and other general construction tasks.
• Develop, submit and track material submittals and deliverables (product cut-sheets, etc.) 
• Develop and check site layout, and be able to provide and maintain horizontal and vertical survey control.
• Support Project Controls through cost estimating, scheduling, subcontractor performance oversight and reporting, quantity tracking, and job forecasting.
• Identify changes in site conditions and assumptions, and work closely with Project Controls and Project Management to manage change quickly and accurately.
• Review subcontractor invoices and make recommendations for payment. Participate in client invoice preparation.
• Maintain project files, including document control for construction paperwork and correspondence
• Assist in preparation of project records (e.g., as-builts).


• 2 years of coursework in in civil engineering, construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in field supervision of construction and engineering activities including excavation, hauling, soil placement and general construction activities; experience supervising craft labor.
• Working knowledge of construction drawings and blueprints.
• Strict oversight and management of multiple construction subcontractors to construction schedule and budget.
• 30-hr Construction Safety Training.(Preferred.)
• Familiarity with typical construction office tasks (e.g., RFI and Submittal routing, certified payroll, materials procurement, and logistics. (Preferred.)
• Ability to provide schedule status updates, evaluate project budget metrics and perform budget forecasting.

• Must exhibit qualities of leadership, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound judgment, and determination.
• Must be able to read and interpret project plans and specifications, and monitor work progress against the requirements.
• Must be able to utilize multiple word-processing and database applications including Microsoft® Office applications (Word, Excel, Access), as well as Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of construction software (Microsoft Project, Sage Timberline) is a plus.
• Current, valid driver’s license.
• Strong communication, prioritization and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Work will be performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Work may include walking on uneven surfaces over long periods of time. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds several times per day. Work may include long days (up to 12 hours), with overtime pay provided for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. 

Ability to obtain and maintain a secret or top secret clearance.
