Job Description
Weldin Construction is looking for a highly motivated Assistant Project Manager to provides support efforts for Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Staff, and Executive staff.  They will assist in managing all aspects of project controls from the office to the field. If you are willing to work in a demanding environment and shine as a multi-tasker this may be the position for you. You will be performing such tasks as: 
  • Create, update and maintain a variety of project controls that track the status of: individual projects or task orders, changes to projects or task orders,  RFI, shop drawings and submittal, matters involving quality controls, safety, financial performance, close-out and other aspects of the project(s) or task order(s).
  • Work with subject matter experts to create, review and process shop drawings and other submittals that are required to document the construction process.
  • Assist in establishing, monitor, communicate and maintain project schedules utilizing scheduling software.
  • Manage or support the management processes by updating logs, routing source documents to vendors, obtaining pricing, writing change orders and other related activities.
  • Support the process of negotiating contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders including tracking materials delivery status to ensure timely arrival.
  • Proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions.
  • Assist in ensuring that all aspects of the project are compliant with all contract terms and legal requirements that govern the project and the community in which the project(s) takes place.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the owner, design professionals, building officials, local businesses, and emergency support.
  • Provide timely and cordial interaction with supporting work groups, such as accounting, HR, ICS, etc…
  • Participate in management activities that are related to project closeout to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist in tracking and submitting construction billings and cost codes including reviewing and coding invoices for payment.
  • Assist in ensuring adherence to project budget and schedule. 
Qualifications
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role or as a construction Superintendent. A degree in construction management in lieu of experience would also be considered. 
  • Applicants are required to have REAL ID ACT compliant documentation at time of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, government officials and clients, as well as outside business associates.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from clients, managers, staff and the general public.
  • High degree of sensitivity and ability to maintain confidential client and employee information.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and make decisions, solve problems, exercise good judgment, work under pressure, and capable of prioritizing workload.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and support a wide range of field efforts, when necessary.
  • Preferred experience in Primavera P6 scheduling and cost loading projects.
  • Preferred knowledge and understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling, cash flow, forecasting, and resource loading Primavera P6 schedules.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project).
