Maintenance I&C Technician


This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to become a member of a multi craft team. It offers the opportunity to cross train into other craft disciplines while showcasing the talents of your core competency. The department this position is a part of is responsible for the development and implementation of the predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance programs, developing procedures including implementation of ASME NQA-1-2008, TSR surveillances, implementing DOE O 433.1B, Maintenance Management Program for DOE Nuclear Facilities and DOE-STD-1090-2011, Hoisting and Rigging for a DOE Hazard Category II Non-Reactor nuclear facility. This department also performs preventive and corrective maintenance planning and scheduling, as well as periodic maintenance program reviews. The selected candidate for this position complies with set safety standards while performing essential job functions. Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Responsible for interpreting engineering design documents and associated activity level work control documents to implement day-to-day repairs, emergency repairs, new installations, and preventive maintenance activities.  Completes maintenance and repair records. Participates in planning meetings to develop work control documents and the associated activity hazards analysis. Develops and revises work control procedures and associated activity hazard analysis. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repairs.   Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems. Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems.



Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Perform calibrations on process instrumentation in accordance with established procedures utilizing loop sheets and NIST traceable calibration equipment.
  • Develop new calibration procedures using manufacturer information and industry standard calibration techniques while incorporating surveillance requirements and revise existing calibration procedures.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance on process instrumentation; following procedures, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Installation and startup of build out and new construction activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Machine set up and adjustments.
  • Maintain records of maintenance on all plant equipment.
  • Adhere to plant safety polices and contribute to a safe workplace.
  • Actively and positively participates in problem solving sessions, work planning meetings, pre- and post- job briefs, and other similar activities.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), anti-contamination clothing, respiratory equipment, etc. as required by work order, radiation work permit, or activity hazard analysis.
  • Meet physical qualifications of a radiological worker, and have ability to qualify as a Radiological Worker II

Other Skills/Abilities:  Must be able to obtain and maintain the required DOE credential.

Education: H.S. diploma or equivalent; strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the company is required.

 Experience: Journeyman I&C Technician. Five years related experience.

Preferred:  Three years of experience at a DOE site.


 Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Internet navigation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to wear personal protective and safety equipment. This equipment includes but is not limited to safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, ladders, and stand for extended periods of time. Reading vision, Ability to speak, Sitting, Standing, Walking, Climbing Ladders, Bending, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling, Balancing, Reaching overhead, Reaching horizontally, Gripping with the hands, Use of both hands, Lifting 50 pounds.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
