Job Description
North Wind Site Services is currently looking for a Radiological Control Technician Supervisor in Luckey Ohio.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supervise the work of and provide technical direction to five to ten Radiological Control Technicians.
Conduct oversight of work to ensure it is performed in accordance with procedures and policies.
Support Project Management in executing project work scope.
Provide technical direction and support project planning.
Provide technical input, help plan and execute Final Status Surveys.
Direct the collection of and evaluate adequacy of radiation sampling and measurements.
Monitor job-site activities involving radioactivity to ensure compliance with applicable company and job-specific policies/procedures along with applicable government regulations.
Participate in incident investigation.
Communicate regularly with Project Management.
Exercise decision authority with respect to release of material from radiological areas.
Maintain and operate radiation measuring equipment; perform decontamination activities.
Provide radiological controls oversight of site remediation activities.
Interact daily with Radiation Safety Officer to report radiological issues.
Perform daily monitoring of radiological work, radiological surveying, soil sampling, air sampling, and evaluation, and aiding in the preparation of documents that support the transfer of materials and equipment for disposal or release.
Operate global positioning system equipment coupled with NaI detector and count rate meter.  Perform gamma scanning surveys.
Operate bench-top detectors for alpha/beta analysis of swipes and air samples.
Provide radiological oversight and leadership for all crew personnel to ensure the highest radiological standards are kept.
Review, approve, and sign, completed radiological monitoring survey reports.
Interpret radiological control requirements, participate in task scoping, and provide technical review of work documents.
Interface with customer radiological and operations management personnel concerning radiological issues.
Provide guidance for proper handling and documentation associated with radioactive material and sources.

Minimum Requirements:
Ten years demonstrated experience at a NRC-licensed, USACE-operated, or DOE-operated facility performing work as a health physics or radiation safety technician.
Three years supervisory experience.
Expert knowledge of 10CFR20 and/or 10CFR835 regulations.
Fundamental understanding of radiation and radiation measurement instruments and ability to teach and train others.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to perform basic mathematics.
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and stoop for up to six hours per day.
Ability to wear a powered air purifying respirator.

Desired Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors or Associates degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in science, engineering, or technology.
Certification by National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists.
Experience working at an environmental remediation site, preferably a USACE site.
Previous experience performing gamma scanning surveys.
Previous experience using a Protean automatic alpha/beta counter.
Previous experience with gamma spectroscopy.
