Job Description
The QA/QC Field Technician is responsible for ensuring that the construction project plans are properly executed by evaluating the effectiveness of controls detailed in the Remedial Action   Inspection Plan (RAIP) and other project procedures. This individual verifies that all required construction observations, QC sampling, and testing are performed correctly, and the associated record documents are complete and maintained. Conformance is determined using field observation, field testing, and laboratory testing to compare the built product to the specifications. Based upon these conformity results, this person provides acceptance and rejection of work products, such as material placement. Additional duties include: performance of operational surveillances and audits, developing, training, verifying use of QA/QC procedures and instructions, and providing reports and other documentation of observations and test results, and other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have a minimum 1 to 2 years of construction QA/QC experience 
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, detailed oriented. 
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math.  
  • Must have the ability to prioritize multiple activities 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with a team. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel). 
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment, with hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Must be able to qualify as a DOE Radiation Worker II, complete 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER worker training and pass a HAZWOPER/respirator user medical exam. 
  • Must pass drug test, physical and background check

Desired Skills:

  • AA degree in engineering science or equivalent experience.
  • Qualified to use a Nuclear Density Gauge. 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and provide QA oversight for multiple contractors and craft. 
  • Knowledgeable regarding measurement and test equipment (MT&E) is preferred.
  • Experience in Construction layout is preferred.
  • Experience with machine control / GPS guided Heavy Equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center is preferred.
  • Experience with field surveying equipment, such as survey grade GPS, laser levels, or builders levels.  
  • Experience in surveying and soil testing is preferred. 
  • Experience in QA/QC testing in compliance with ASTM 698, 1556, 2216, 4643 and 6938 standards preferred.
  • Experience in QA/QC and knowledge of quality guidelines preferred. 
  • Experience working on radiological and/or hazardous waste sites preferred. 
  • Experience working on a DOE site preferred.
  • Experience with UAVs/drones, FAA Part 107 license.
