Job Description

The Project Architect, will perform all phases of architectural work including planning, designing and supporting construction. Individuals will be involved in new building designs, additions, alterations, restorations and tenant improvements from the earliest stages to completion. The goal is to match client’s needs and to produce sustainable, functional and aesthetically pleasing designs.

This posting is for immediate need at Idaho National Labs through the end of May 2021 at which time work would revert back to the North Wind office in Idaho Falls, ID.


  • Apply architectural concepts to design, analyze and build a Structure, System or Component (SCC) through:
  • Preparation of detailed drawings,
  • Develop and compile project specifications
  • Preparation of other design related documents, as required
  • Define requirements and develop design concepts
  • Develop design work packages
  • Complete and document detailed design
  • Verify designs completed by others
  • Support construction and closeout design
  • Complete projects and assignments within budget and schedule
  • Ensure that all work meets specific standards, building codes, guidelines and regulations
  • Make on site visits (as required) to check on project status and report on project
  • Cooperate and work with construction professionals
  • Assist in the project design control from start to finish to ensure high quality, innovative and functional design
  • Ability to work through and manage design changes at all stages of the project.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work alone and with others, self-motivator.
  • Requires minimal guidance and direction on projects.
  • Understanding the client’s needs and assist in putting together feasibility reports and 
    design proposals
  • Develop ideas keeping in mind client’s needs, building’s usage and environmental impact
  • BS degree in Architecture
  • Min. 8-10 years of office experience 
  • Min. 5 years AutoCAD experience
  • Revit experience preferred
  • Experience completing architecture design for Federal Agencies (USACE, DOE, DOD, DHS, etc.) preferred
  • LEED Certification or Experience preferred
  • DOE security clearance required to work at Idaho National Laboratories
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
