Job Description
North Wind Infrastructure and Technology is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who is familiar with both design and design/build delivery methods for projects. In this role, the candidate will apply electrical engineering knowledge, practice, and techniques to solve applied and operational problems in facility and associated infrastructure design. Candidate will be expected to provide technical leadership/mentorship to junior engineers/designers and will review other electrical engineers' work for accuracy, compliance, and constructability. Specific duties include:
  • Serves as the Engineer of Record for drawings, specifications and reports prepared under your direction.
  • Prepare electrical design (plans and specifications) for 120/240/480VAC power to various loads, including pumps, fans, HVAC units, miscellaneous fire protection and suppression panels, lighting panels, distribution panels, and other miscellaneous loads inside/outside pumping plants, generating units, and support buildings (O&M Centers and Subcenters).
  • Specify 120/240/480VAC panelboards and circuit breakers.
  • Specify standby generators
  • Perform calculations such as load drop, conduit sizing
  • Size and specify cable and conduit
  • Provide cable and conduit routing on plan views in sufficient detail for construction
  • Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes
  • Work within a multi-discipline team of mechanical, electrical, fire protection, structural, and civil engineers, and architects.
  • Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm.
  • P.E. license in Electrical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Strong background and knowledge of the National Electric Code and other industry electrical codes and standards. Strong communications skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Experienced in development of engineering design packages including design drawings, specifications, cost estimating, creating installation and testing instructions and plans.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, including proficiency in writing and editing technical documents.
  • Skilled at reviewing contractor submittals for approval and respond to requests for information (RFI's), and will be responsible for the professional quality, technical accuracy, and coordination of all designs, drawings, specifications, and other services.
  • Ability to travel (up to 20%) for meetings with clients, vendors and project sites.
  • Practical experience with site construction.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Strong background and knowledge of the National Electric Code and other industry electrical codes and standards. 
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Practical experience with site construction.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and electrical design software.
  • Field experience including startup and commissioning of electrical systems
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
