Job Description

North Wind Resource Consulting is looking for an experienced Hazardous Waste Specialist to maintain documentation of hazardous material and process paperwork for hazardous material shipments. Below are the essential duties and responsibilities of this position:

  • Data entry and tracking
  • Waste manifest preparation
  • Maintain documentation of hazardous wastes managed in a hazardous waste management facility
  • Compile tracking list of waste and cost
  • Maintain inventory of multiple items
  • Correspond with customers through electronic mail and telephone
  • Maintain weekly and monthly reports of activity
  • Research compile and maintain up to date records of Safety Data Sheets applicable to hazardous materials
  • Ensure adequate storage of wastes in compliance with federal laws and regulations
  • Interact professionally with customers
Other duties that may be assigned include:
  • Environmental sampling of various media (soil, water, wastes)
  • Preparation of site plans and documents (standard operating procedures, memorandums of findings, analytical reports)
  • Facility inspections for compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Qualifications
  • High school Diploma or equivalent, Associates degree or Bachelors degree in applicable science or environmental fields preferred. 
  • Must be able and licensed to operate a motorized vehicle and have a basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures
  • Able to pass HAZWOPER/respirator user medical exam. 
  • Applicant should be able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Work with minimal supervision and prioritize workload
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Basic knowledge of applicable state and federal waste regulations
  • Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act rules and regulations
  • Required to pass Public Trust background check
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug screen
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 40 hour HAZWOPER trained and up to date
  • DOT HAZMAT Transportation trained
  • Fork lift operation and certification
  • Environmental sampling experience (soil, groundwater, various wastes)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds as required
  • Applicant must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (heat)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Utilizing mechanical equipment to process waste and prepare shipments. Working environment will be a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities.
